Researchers at Tokyo Medical and Dental University have found that the periodontal bacterium Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans exacerbates rheumatoid arthritis through inflammasome activation. This discovery could lead to new treatment strategies for RA and other systemic diseases linked to periodontal bacteria, potentially improving patient outcomes.
